This week we flew to Newark on Virgin Air. The passenger safety video was a mix of rap, hip-hop and Broadway. It was well produced, and whimsical. At the end of the video, passengers actually applauded. And don’t laugh, but for the first time, we understood how to inflate a life vest, demonstrated by dancing “Men in Black.”
Attention precedes comprehension. As a speaker, unless you fire the attentional area of our brains, your words are like rain on a roof, and have just as much luck sticking. Because tastes change, content that you repeat often needs a new perspective or it becomes stale.
Get over any reservations about theatricality. Create compelling ways to deliver your material and express your message. Lead the market. Pique the imagination of your audiences, and even classic, standard services will seem bright and shiny.
