The 2023 Tony Awards aired last Sunday. Because union writers were on strike, audiences feared the show would suffer.

Out of necessity, the Tonys played to our desire to see and appreciate the best Broadway talent.

After brief remarks by Ariana DeBose, the show featured scenes and performance numbers from the actual Broadway productions. It was uplifting and entertaining. Even the acceptance speeches were more spontaneous and memorable.

Your business presentations are also performances. We like to say “Attention precedes comprehension.” Add jazz to your show/speech/presentation. Tune it to what your audience wants and how they will best receive it. Don’t rely on stuffy PowerPoint decks. Tell stories. Use props. Draw on a whiteboard-- whatever delivers your content in an entertaining manner.
